Mayor of Urhoboland, Eshanakpe Israel, has accused President Muhammadu Buhari of double standard in his support for the former Lagos State governor and presidential candidate of All Progressives Congress, (APC), Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

This was contained in a statement issued and signed by the Mayor at the weekend where he described the president as a serial election loser before the APC presidential candidate threw his weight behind him in 2015 having lost the hope of being a president.

According to him, Tinubu’s statement at Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital as to how many times the president lost elections before he backed him were nothing but the truth, saying when he met with Buhari in 2013 at his Kaduna home, he expressed hopelessness concerning his presidential ambition and told him that he won’t be contesting the 2015 election.

“Fast forward, the same person has become the president, and he is now playing hanky-panky game with Tinubu’s presidential ambition. He was quoted to have told the Bauchi electorate to vote for any candidate of their choice. That comment credited to the president draws a map of perfidy, ingratitude against a man who took ‘bullets’ for him during his campaigns.

“The reckless campaign of calumny launched against Tinubu in 2015 by reactionary elements, is still fresh in the memories of Nigerians whereas, the two term governor of Lagos who wasn’t on the ballot that year didn’t shy away from what he believed in, but ironically, the man he stuck his neck for, is now playing hide and seek with his own campaigns eighth years after.”

Akpodoro said, even though the presidential candidate of the APC has not been adopted by him, it is, however, noteworthy for the president to remember that the two major books: the Holy Bible and Quran dwell so much on the sin of ingratitude as he called him to open up to Nigerians on where his loyalty lies.
