The Zamfara State chapter of Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has directed workers in the state to withdraw their children and wards from private schools not sympathetic to its state-wide industrial action until the strike is over.

A circular issued by the state’s Secretary of NLC, Bitrus Gyang, said children and wards of public servants account for over 80 per cent of pupils and students in private schools in the state.

The directive, according to the document dated September  19, 2017, said the directive takes effect from Wednesday, 20 September.

“The refusal of some private schools to join the strike is an indication that they care not about the plight if their customers, therefore Labour Unions are not taking it lightly,” the directive stated.

Daily Sun could not immediately confirm whether proprietors of privates schools in the state are complying with the directive.
