General Officer Commanding (GOC), 82 Division, Nigerian Army, Enugu, Major Gen. Umar Musa has called on Nigerians to support the military to defeat insurgency.
Musa, former GOC of 81 Division said the support became necessary as troops launch attacks on terrorists and bandits around the country. He assured that the army was doing all to ensure the country is united and wins the war against terrorists.
He spoke while handing over to Major Gen. Obinna Ajunwa, who was appointed GOC during a recent shake up.
“You are all aware how threats are spreading all over the country, as an army we doing our best to ensure that we curtail all the activities of terrorists. I want to assure all Nigerians that the Army is doing all within its powers to ensure that the country is peaceful.”
Musa described terrorists as enemies of the state, explaining that the war being fought by the Army was not a personal, but one that every Nigerian must support for the military to win.
He expressed confidence in the ability of the new GOC to deliver on his new assignment.
Major Gen. Ajunwa thanked the Chief of Army Staff for finding him worthy of the job, commending Musa, the immediate past GOC for taking the Division to greater heights. He pledged to contribute to the success recorded so far, and urged senior officers of the division to work as a team and demonstrate professionalism in the discharge of their duties. Musa who resumed in Enugu as the new GOC 82 Division thanked God for granting him successful tenure of office and the COAS for finding him worthy of the appointment as GOC.
