Shooting from suspected members of a rival cult group on March 1, has claimed the life of a middle-aged‎ man in Benin City.

The deceased, simply identified as Mr. Victor, a.k.a Biggy, was reportedly shot dead at a traffic light junction at New Benin Market.

Victor, a former vice chairman of the Ikpoba Hill branch of Commercial Bus Drivers Union, New Benin Market unit, was said to have resumed work when his assailant emerged from nowhere and shot him in the head at close range.

He was reportedly shot a few minutes after he parked his C-Class Mercedes Benz car by the side of the road leading to Upper Mission area and proceeded to work.

Sources said he was discussing with an unidentified man when he was shot from behind and he fell down.

‎Recall that rival cult groups, particularly Aye and Eiye, have been locked in a supremacy war in which several lives have been lost in the last one month in Benin City.‎

‎Over 70 suspected cultists have been arrested by security operatives, including the army.
