The crisis rocking the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) took a different twist, on Thursday, as the suspended Executive Secretary of agency, Prof. Usman Yusuf, failed to appear before the committee set up by the Federal Ministry of Health to investigate petitions written against him and allegations of fraud involving other staff.

Yusuf had been invited to appear before the committee chaired by the Health ministry’s, Permanent Secretary, Binta Bello, through a letter signed by Dr. O. J. Amedu, dated 18th July.

In the letter sighted by Daily Sun, Yusuf , who was addressed as former Executive Secretary was asked to appear before the committee holding its sitting at the boardroom of the Utako Extension of the NHIS head office by 10 am.

Though the ministry reminded Yusuf that his appearance was mandatory, he did not made an appearance as at the time of filing this report.
