IN medical science, when the body system is attacked to enervation and debility, opportunistic diseases and all manner of infections assail the victim with fatalistic intensity. This explains why Abia vermin and other personality vandals could attempt to pigheadedly deconstruct and demystify the former governor of the state, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu—a clownishness that abated on May 29, 2015, when the cows came home! These are persons who ordinarily cannot even lace his shoes, but because the former governor Theodore Ahamefule Orji had recklessly thrown the Sesame gate open to a flood of secondary pestilence, all sorts of parasitic blokes pointed the finger at Kalu!
With time, online publications will fizzle out when people realize the tissues of lies and uncanny fables peddled by most of them. I am scandalized that some corporate bodies patronize such unfathomable outlets via institutional advertisement serials arising from cheap blackmail. It is even worsened by a few non-performing governors who use such gorilla media to attack their political opponents. The jaundiced outfits have no standards, principles, ethics or scruples about anything—nobody regulates or supervises them. Anything goes as long as the pay is right! No professionalism, no qualms!
A certain Don Ubani recently posted one drab and fictive article on an online portal that calls itself ‘The Nigerian Voice’ in which he traduced Kalu for daring to expose the deviousness that went on in our state enveloped by darkness. It was all part of the grandiose gimmickry and serial calumniation by the state government to counter Kalu’s unstoppable and unassailable offensive. Before we continue, someone should tell Ubani that “the leopard does not change colour”, but spot. This is the first free, kindergarten lesson for the Aba boy!
Ubani’s gaffe-ridden first salvo goes thus: “… I hardly buy the sun (sic) Newspaper. Even in (on) the internet, I seldom go searching for news from its Website (sic) . My reasons are in the plurality. One is traceable to the circumstances surrounding its initial funding and establishment, including the equipment with which the paper took off.
The second is my conviction that the paper, as a corporate entity, has a policy that is geared towards the propagation of falsehood. A third reason why I do not like reading the newspaper is that the proprietor of the paper, being aware that his tenure as governor of Abia State for eight years was an abysmal chaos, unethically uses the paper to give himself and members of his family, whose only aim while he held sway in Abia State was to loot the state (sic) treasury, false protection. But on Sunday 24th August, 2014, someone drew my attention to a publication on Page 71 of Saturday Sun of the previous day. I asked a relation to buy a hard copy of the paper for me upon which I saw it was Kalu leadership series (sic) which was preposterously tagged “Theodore Orji’s endless lies”.
When people make sarcastic, ludicrous and frivolous interjections that cannot be substantiated you immediately establish their emptiness, self-deception and jaundice. It may interest Ubani and his paymasters to know that soar-away Sun titles are a must read for all the echelons of the society and have been so structured to accommodate their divergent media needs. It is not one of the superfluous straitjacketed newspapers: read-one-read-all publications! Can this funny fellow called Ubani go to court or the EFCC and tender verifiable and admissible documents relating to the establishment, initial funding and take-off equipment of The Sun. It is not enough to make scathing and unfounded statements informed by abject ignorance, malice, inferiority complex and understandable jealousy that is natural.
Ubani also foolishly talks of The Sun having a corporate policy of falsehood propagation. The problem with Ubani and his cliquish band is that they think they are knowledgeable when in reality they are empty drums! How can any sane person that claims to be educated declare that the policy of a major national newspaper is to voyage lies?
This is despite the fact that the vision and mission of the medium are clearly stated and occupies a special section of all the titles in the publishing conglomerate. That the paper is critical of Abia State government, which is the worst in the country, does not change its focus as it equally celebrates states that are doing extremely well like Anambra and Enugu in the same region.
The third reason inconsequential Ubani infrequently reads The Sun is that “Kalu uses the paper unethically for family protection”! You ask: protection from what or whom? Empty skulls like Ubani need to be schooled on the mechanics of newspaper operations, ownership, control and public service. The presumptive absurdity that the proprietor of any publication calls the tune is sheer megalomaniac expressionism that smacks of a brainwave that eternally defies logic. No amount of collusive and blanket blackmail of The Sun by the immediate-past Abia State government and hirelings like Ubani who drip of innuendoes can dissuade it from the pursuit of its lofty professional goals. The more they bellyache in their accusatory pastime about the newspapers’ searchlight on the rot in the state the more beams that turn on it. At the risk of overemphasis, The Sun can never be apologetic over the decay Abia is swimming in.
At least, I have followed the medium since its inception and can vouch for its editorial stance even from outside. What is preposterous about Theodore Orji’s lies? If there is any absurdity at all it has to do with his propagandist misinformation and reprehensible adulation by the Ubanis.
Ubani, in his adversarial stupidity, said the fund and equipment meant for the modernization of Abia State government-owned newspaper, The Ambassador, were diverted to the establishment of The Sun when Kalu was the governor. Mercenaries like Ubani just make puerile and sweeping declarations that have no rationality or evidence thread. So, all those in government, including, of course, the former governor, T.A., who was the Alpha and Omega of that regime, knew about this and kept quiet assuming there is any iota of truth in it?
This kind of pub talk by a certified hack lacks credence and should not be purveyed with the stupefaction that it will stick one day! It is like a girl claiming sexual harassment if she has issues with an admirer publicly. Only daft members of the public will buy that line of cheap blackmail which on the surface is easily acceptable.
The bunch of Kalu critics comprising members of the Abia Patriots, in the absence of any cogent allegation or tangible platform for attack, resort to clutching any straw they stumble on, which is usually The Sun vis-à-vis its unprecedented beginning and editorial thrust as it concerns Theodore Orji. Apart from this hackneyed accusation and mudslinging of his mother, there is no other thing!
There must be confusion among the apostles of theatrical Ochendo. Almost all of them talk from both sides of their mouth with regard to the fabled Okija Shrine. Beyond their perplexity is blissful ignorance on this matter because a competent court of law in this country had ruled and upheld that there was no such fetish practice. It was on the basis of this that Chief Onyema Ugochukwu lost his appeal against Theodore Orji in 2007. And when the likes of Ubani advertise their irredeemable ignorance on this and indeed all other matters regarding the governance of Abia from 1999 to 2015 and Kalu puts the record straight they (the Ubanis and his co-turncoats) call Kalu names. In the latest interjection on account of this same issue Ubani foolishly calls Kalu a “facile, pathological and unrepentant liar’! I have never seen this kind of imbecilic idiocy and asininity before!
