Sylvanus Viashima, Jalingo
The former Minister of Power and governorship aspirant under the platform of the All Progressives Congress APC in Taraba state Engineer Saleh Mamman has called on the National secretariat of the party to step in and proffer solution to the ongoing crisis rocking the party in the state following the decision of the Federal High Court to nullify the gubernatorial primaries of the party in the state.
Mamman who made the call while addressing party members in Jalingo hailed the decision of the Court and insisted that there was need for the leadership of the party to quickly come in and resolve the issues before the deadline given by the Court for a new Primaries.
According to Mamman, five out of the six aspirants have resolved and agreed to go with any form of Primaries that the party leadership suggests and would also accept consensus so long as it is among the five of them.
“Let me first of all appreciate your patience and calm demeanor despite the challenges that we are facing. We all know that there was no primaries in the state so far as the governorship seat is concerned. Fortunately, the federal High Court has agreed with us based on the overwhelming evidence presented before it.
“It is important for me to come and see you today to reassure you that we are doing everything to ensure that the right thing is done. APC is big enough to accommodate everyone, but you can not just jump in and try to outsmart all those who have built and sustained the party over the years. It is not right and we would not accept it.
“And so following the courageous and decent rulling of the Federal High Court in Jalingo recently, we the five other aspirants have sat and agreed that we would abide by the decision of the national secretariat of our party. If the party decides that we should do primaries, we would accept any form of Primaries be it direct or indirect. If the party wants consensus, we would also accept it so long as it is someone from among the the five of us. We would not only accept it but we would all rally round the person and give him our support in all ramifications.
“As such, let me call on the leadership of our great party to quickly come in and ensure that the right thing is and done on time. We must allow fair play and justice to rule. That is the only way we can achieve our collective goal. But I can assure you that we would not allow an intruder to come and treat us as if we don’t know what we are doing. It will never happen” he insisted.
Daily Sun recall that the federal High Court sitting in Jalingo recently nullified the primaries of the party and ordered a fresh primaries within fourteen days which will expire by Thursday this week.
Mrs Asabe Sani, one of the women leaders in the party who spoke during the meeting noted that retaining the governorship seat in the Southern zone of the state who are currently enjoying the seat was grossly unfair to the Northern zone and said  there was need for power to return to the Northern zone of the state.
She said that since Christians have also ruled the state since the return to civil rule, it was only fair that a credible Muslim candidate should be supported to win the governorship in the interest of oneness, fairness and justice as well as to give everyone a sense of belonging.
