Sylvanus Viashima, Jalingo
The Taraba State Commissioner for Budget and Planning Mr Solomon Elisha has said that the implementation of the state’s 2022 budget so far has been very impressive despite the enormous financial challenges confronting the state and nation at large.
Elisha disclosed this on Saturday while interacting with some journalists in Jalingo, the state capital.
He said that careful planning and the “Every-kobo-must-Count” and “Zero-wastage” policies of the state government has ensured that all the available resources are meticulously channelled to worthwhile causes to bring about the level of development across the state.
“I make bold to tell you all that, as we speak, the implementation of this current budget is amazingly impressive. It is above national average and you can only understand this better if you consider it in light of the fact that our earnings are dwindling by the day.
” One may wonder the magic we have deployed to achieve this and I say it is no magic at all. What we did from the onset was to plan for the worst while expecting the best. That is what we are harnessing right now.
“Besides that, it may not be one of the most popular things you hear on the streets but the state governor His Excellency Architect Darius Dickson Ishaku has come up with these dual policies of ‘Zero-wastage’ and ‘Every-kobo-must-Count’ to ensure that our resources are meticulously used to bring about maximum impact.
“Consequently, all the ministries, agencies and parastatas have made it an overriding operational philosophy,  guiding policy implementation and financial disbursement such that almost all the hitherto conduit pipes and leakages are blocked.
“What we hope to do is to surpass are previous records and ensure that the rescue mission ends with a bang for the ultimate good of the state. This will also help to set a standard for whoever will take over from His Excellency as the next state governor” Elisha said.
