The 2022 Commonwealth Games end tonight in Birmingham with Team Nigeria women producing some of the most memorable performances, etching their names into the history books.

From track and field events to weightlifting and Powerlifting, Team Nigeria women announced themselves as world-class stars with their record-breaking feats.

Tobi Amusan’s curtain call on Sunday was as amazing as expected, her hurdles feats cementing her as one of the greatest track and field athletes in the world.

The 25-year-old clocked 12.30 seconds to set a new games record in women’s 100m hurdles event two weeks after she became the first Nigerian athlete to win a World Athletics Championship gold as she stormed to victory in the women’s 100m hurdles in Oregon.

Goodness Nwachukwu was at her best as she won gold medal in the women’s discus event, breaking the world record with her first throw in the event of (34.84m).

Another Nigerian, Folashade Oluwafemiayo smashed the world record to win gold in the Powerlifting event.

Oluwafunmilayo, a Paralympic champion, was spectacular in the Heavyweight Powerlifting event as she lifted a new world record of 155kg to clinch the gold medal breaking her own World Record (WR).

Weightlifter Folashade Lawal Rafiatu set a new Commonwealth record with 206KG in the Women’s 59KG event.

Lawal set a Commonwealth record in the clean and jerk category, lifting 110kg, 115kg, and 116kg in all her attempts.

Olarinoye Adijat, en route to winning the gold medal, equally set two Game Records, lifting 90kg and 92kg in the Snatch category of women’s 55kg Weightlifting event.

Eucharia Iyiazi threw a new Commonwealth Games record of 10.03m to win the gold medal for Nigeria

A New African Record of 42.10 seconds was set in the Women’s 4x100m at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham by the quartet of Tobi Amusan, Favour Ofili, Rosemary Chukwuma and Grace Nwokocha.

The Commonwealth Games ends today at Birmingham’s Alexander Stadium.
