The police in Katsina State have arrested a 15-years-old pregnant housewife, Dausiya Abdulmumini, of Ungwar Dan Mayaki village in Bakori local government area, for allegedly poisoning her husband’s food.

The police said that the husband, Saminu Usman, 25, died after consuming the poisoned food, along with his half-brother, Muhammad Dada, who was said to have eaten the remnant of the food. It was learnt that the duo were rushed to a hospital in Bakori but were confirmed dead on arrival.

The deceased Saminu’s sister, 23-year-old Shafa’atu Usman, however escaped death as she was said to have taken only a little quantity from the food and was discharged from hospital after treatment.

The state police command public relations officer (PPRO), DSP Gambo Isah, who confirmed the report yesterday said that the incident took place on December 18, 2017.

Isah said that a “Good Samaritan” reported the incident at the Bakori divisional police station following which the suspect, was taken into custody.

It was learnt that the late Saminu had an accident two weeks after his wedding which left him crippled apart from losing virtually all his teeth. The police said the suspect would soon be charged to court for culpable homicide.
