A teenager, Alaba Omoniyi, was on Wednesday arraigned in a Chief Magistrates’ Court sitting in Ado-Ekiti over alleged theft.
The prosecutor, Insp Caleb Leranmo, told the court that the 18-year-old committed the offence on May 3 at about 2:00 pm at Oke-Iyinmi area of Ado-Ekiti.
He alleged that the accused unlawfully broke into the house of one Mrs Alice Agwu and stole N70,000.
According to him, the offence is contrary to and punishable under Section 390 (9) of the Criminal Code, Cap 16, Vol. 1, Laws of Ekiti State, 2012.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty while his counsel, Mr Busayo Sule, applied for his bail, promising that he would not jump bail.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr Adesoji Adegboye, granted the accused N100, 000 bail with two responsible sureties in like sum.
He adjourned the case till June 16 for hearing. (NAN)
