The Minister of State for Industry, Trade and Investment, Hajiya Aisha Abubakar, has said that Tellco Europe Nigeria off-grid solar power solutions will create thousands of jobs as Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) will have access to clean energy to conduct business in the country.
The Minister, who spoke through Dr. Francis Alami, who stood in for her at the inauguration of the off-grid solar power solutions for MSMEs in Nigeria yesterday in Lagos, said in bridging power supply gap in Nigeria, the efforts of the company would go a long way in boosting Nigeria’s economy and creating many jobs in the country.
She said: “I heartily commend Tellco Europe and SolarLED Solutions for the efforts they have made in trying to provide clean energy for MSMEs in Nigeria. This is in tandem with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) considered as a pathway towards sustainable economic growth in the country.
“Government is fully prepared to work with Tellco to boost our economy. Government is also fully prepared to ensure that the purpose of this project to create enabling environment for businesses to operate, having policy for incentives, tariff concession, waivers and incentives for alternative power supply will be accommodated.
This is why the government is working with stakeholders across all sectors to ensure that MSMEs have the support they need to grow now and in the future.” She said the Federal Government is aware that the capacity of MSMEs in Nigeria to perform the critical role as engine of growth, development, industrialisation, wealth generation and employment creation is hampered by numerous challenges.
