Those I displaced in 2011 election’re after me –Okorocha

Stanley Uzoaru, Owerri

Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha has cried out over alleged gang-up against him by those he described as godfathers and elite who he displaced in 2011 governorship poll, using the 2019 election as their battleline.

According to the governor, the opponents have decided to adopt all measures to achieve their purpose. In a statement he issued through his Chief Press Secretary, Sam Onwuemeodo, he said: “For instance, those who call themselves stakeholders sneaked into an uncompleted building on Friday night and came out to say they had conducted APC state congress. Look at the photographs they sent out. Do you conduct congress at night and in an uncompleted building?
“Again, the first question you ask about a government is the extent it has served the people who own the mandate, ab-initio. They have been honest to themselves not to accuse Okorocha of non-performance. On our own, we have claimed that Okorocha has more than one thousand verifiable projects to his credit and has achieved more than all those before him. And nobody has said it is not true.

If Rochas has more than one thousand projects and has achieved more than those before him put together, what is then the issue? The issue is that the elite and the godfathers have run dry since Okorocha came and they want to come and recover all they have lost since 2011.”

Explaining why he endorsed Uche Nwosu, Governor Okorocha said he did opt for him for the fun of it, but,  “wants to ensure someone who would continue to work for Imo people and continue to keep the elite and godfathers in check.”
He, however, boasted that he will still get the support of the people in 2019 and show them the part to follow.
Speaking on the attack by Senator Chris Anyanwu on him in the media, Okorocha said she has no moral justification to run him down.

He said there is a clear difference between the two of them and boasted that.
“She was in the Senate for eight solid years for Owerri zone; let her mention one achievement her eight years in the Senate brought to Owerri zone or to the state, either as entities or to individuals.”

It is a lie Governor Okorocha! You are the one after yourself. When you deliberately by-passed your able and loyal deputy for your son-in-law, what do you expect? The Imolites are not idiots that you think they are. They just kept quiet, awaiting your disgrace which they duly handed over to you at the right time. According to the legend, one Oyinbo lecturer had stated that ‘silence means consent’. But it was said that Prof. Chinua Achebe had objected by saying ‘silence may mean consent in Europe, but in Africa, silence may sometimes mean trouble, very big trouble’. So the silence of the Imolites has paid off. You are the one after your megalomaniac self.
