Representatives of the German, Austrian and Swiss Governments in Lagos, on Wednesday said that there were obvious signs that the Nigerian economy would rebound very soon.

The representatives differently expressed their optimism at the presentation of a survey conducted by the Austrian, German and Swiss (AGS) companies on Nigeria’s economy in Lagos.

The Consul-General of Germany in Lagos, Mr Ingo Herbert, said that the survey had showed that the Nigerian Government was working at improving the environment for doing business in the country.

Herbert said that there was a marginal improvement in this year’s survey over the 2016 survey.

“This survey really reflects that the Nigerian business and Investment environment is improving gradually. And, this would attract more foreign investments.

“There are now signs that the Nigerian Government is really working at improving its environment for doing business,’’ he said.

The Consul-General of Switzerland in Lagos, Mr Yves Nicolet, said that the findings of the survey were important to Nigeria and Swiss companies wanting to invest or do business in Nigeria.

Nicolet commended the Swiss companies for their investments and growing interest in exploiting the huge business opportunities in Nigeria.

He said that the Presentation of the Survey would enable Swiss companies and other AGS companies realise the successes in investing in Nigeria.

The Commercial Counsellor of Advantage Austria, Ms Nella Hengstler, who expressed satisfaction at the outcome of the Survey, said that there was hope for the Nigerian economy.

“We are very optimistic about the future of Nigeria’s economy.

“Nigeria is a country that has to be reckoned with. We have a big vision for Nigeria’s economy,’’ she said.

The Deputy Group Managing Director, TGI Group, Mr Christian Wessels said that from the survey report, he already had an “impression’’ that Nigeria’s economy would improve soon.

Wessels said that he was also convinced that the Nigerian Government’s efforts at improving the country’s Ease of Doing Business was in the right direction.

“This is the time for men and women to realise the opportunities in Nigeria,’’ he added.
