From Ben Dunno, Warri

FOUR persons who were on their way to the funeral of the late father of Government Ekpemupolo (a.k.a Tompolo) in Gbaramatu, Warri South- West Local Government Area of Delta State, were feared dead in a boat mishap along the Delta creeks.
Sunday Sun gathered that the four victims had barely taken off from the Miller Waterside, Warri, on their way to Kurutie, where the funeral rites would be performed when the speedboat they boarded capsized.   Narrating the incident to Sunday Sun, a Gbramatu community leader who spoke under anonymity said: “We were already at the funeral celebrating Chief Thomas Ekpemupolo when we got news of the accident. Initially, we were told that only two persons died. Further details later revealed that about four persons, three females including one Faith (surname withheld) from Ogulagha, another female from Kurutie and a man apparently from the northern part of the country, lost their lives in the mishap.   “It was gathered that the Hausa man was actually not an invited dignitary, but someone who was conveying some wares to trade at the funeral ground.”
The funeral of the late Ekepmukpolo continues today (Sunday) with his interment at Okerenkoko.
