Tragedy struck in the early hours of Sunday in Benin-City, Edo State, as three persons, two females and a male, were found dead from in a flat from suspected generator fumes at Agharese Adu street off Sapele Road in Ikpoba-Okha local government area.

The deceased were found dead by two other occupants of the flat at about 3:00a.m Sunday morning.

The two females, it was learnt, were visitors of the deceased male who was found naked in his room.

One of the deceased females was found stone dead lying in the lobby while the other was lying down on the bed with her shoes on.

Two elder brothers to the deceased male that returned home from a party were said to have discovered the bodies and then raised the alarm.

The bodies of the deceased have been taken to the morgue by policemen from Etete Police Division.

It was learnt that a generator from which the fumes emerged was found in the  kitchen of the apartment.

Confirming the incident, spokesman of the Edo State Police Command, DSP Moses Nkombe, said investigation would unravel what caused the deaths, adding that it was a case of sudden and natural death.

“Until doctors report comes out, it is like they died of generator fumes. One of the occupants of the room died. The flat is occupied by three boys. The two senior ones went to a party and when they returned, they saw that the door was locked. They had to raise alarm”‎, the Police spokesman said.
