Deputy National President, Administration, Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN) Amb. Muhammed Abubakar Bishara on Wednesday described the transportation employees as key drivers of Nigerian Economy, hence the need for government to ensure their safety and security on the road.
Bishara sated this during the inauguration of the newly elected executive members of the Kaduna state Branch of association held at popular Arewa House, Kaduna.
According to him,  RTEAN is doing its best to ensuring that its members were being sensitised on how to contribute to the economic growth and development of the country quickly added that the security situation in the land has greatly affected their operations.
“If the roads are not safe, definately it will affect the economy, and that is the situation we are in the country.
“We are already collaborating with the security agencies and other relevant stakeholders to ensuring that the roads are safe for the commutters and our members,” Bishara explained.
He therefore urged the members of the union to double up their dedication to work and ensure high level of discipline and cooperation with the security agencies whose mandate is to offer protection.
The Director of Finance, Kaduna State Transport Regulatory Authority (KASTRA), Lawal Musa who issued certificates of return to the newly elected executive of RTEAN on behalf of the Kaduna state Governor, Nasir El-Rufai said “government was putting more effort in ensuring smooth running of the transportation sector in the state”.
While congratulating the newly elected excos he said, the state
was proud of all the transport unions, “they have always been cooperating with the state.
The new Chairman of the RTEAN in the state, Adamu Zubairu Jalaluddeen thanked the state government for its support to the association and promised continuous synergy with relevant stakehooders.
