Deputy director, Federal Ministry of Works, power and Housing in-charge of Enugu State, Mr. Innocent Alumona, has commended the quality of roads construction in Nsukka Local Government Area by the Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi administration.

Alumona, who hails from Nguru Nsukka in Nsukka, told the journalists,  in Nsukka, on Monday, that the quality of road construction determines if it  would  last long or not.

Said he, “The roads construction from Opi junction to Nsukka Total Roundabout to University Road and others show high quality of work by RCC construction company the state government gave the contract.

“Its now that Nsukka as University town has been upgraded  to a full university  town status.

“When the ongoing roads construction and streets lighting are completed Nsukka will surely become the best university town in the country,” he said.

On the proposed  reception for the governor on good governance being organised by people of Nsukka for Ugwuanyi on April 18 at Nsukka, the director said is a welcome idea as when you appreciate someone for the good thing he has done it would spur him to do more.

“Ugwuanyi’s  good work in the state since assumption of office makes me to beat my chest anywhere to say I am from Nsukka.

“Not only that he is carrying out developmental projects in the three zones of the state but at the same time, he is  paying civil servants in the state their salary every month,” he said.

The deputy director also commended the governor on his interventions on some  Federal government roads in the state,  advised Ugwuanyi to ensure due process so as to recover the money spent on the intervention from federal government at the appropriate time.

“Is good idea for any state governor to use state money to repair or reconstruct federal roads in bad condition in their states, it is also good to follow  due process  so that government at the centre will be able to pay  back the money to the particular state at appropriate time,” he said.

Alumona noted that, the recent inspections of ongoing federal  projects in the South East by the Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Mr Babatunde Fashola was to know the level of work on various projects as well as ensure that quality jobs were done by contractors handling the projects.

“Fashola everybody  knows believes in quality work, completing of projects on schedule as well as according to specifications as contained in contract agreements.

“Its this  philosophy that made it possible for him to transform Lagos state when he was the governor of the state  as  one of the best cities in the world,” he said
