Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State and his Ebonyi State counterpart, Chief David Umahi, will be participating in a two-day National Conference on “Culture, Peace and National Security: The Role of Traditional Rulers”, holding in Enugu, Enugu State, from Wednesday.

The conference, which is the 3rd edition the Institute will be organizing, will be a veritable platform to deliberate and proffer solutions regarding issues bothering on national security and the place of traditional rulers in sustaining peace in their domains.

Umahi, who is Chairman of South East Governors’ Forum, will chair the programme being organised by the National Institute for Cultural Orientation (NICO) for traditional monarchs in the country, while Ugwuanyi delivers the keynote address.

Details released by Mr. Caleb Nor, Media Assistant to the Executive Secretary of NICO, Dr. Barclays Ayakoroma, in Abuja, said the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed will be special guest of honour at the event.

The statement further named Ambassador Lawrence Agubuzu, Chairman, Enugu State Traditional Rulers’ Council and his colleague from Ebonyi State, Eze Charles Mkpuma as royal fathers of the day, while Professor Emeka Nwabueze of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, is expected to chair the technical session of the conference.

The first and second editions of the conference held in Abuja and Kaduna in 2012 and 2014, respectively.
