The Governing Council, University of Lagos (UNILAG), Akoka, on Friday appointed Prof. Folasade Ogunsola as the first female vice chancellor for the 60-year-old institution.

The 13th vice chancellor is expected to take over from Prof. Oluwatoyin Ogundipe, whose tenure will end on November 11, 2022.

Ogunsola beat 10 professors to emerge the new vice chancellor.

She was Deputy Vice Chancellor (Development and Services) for two terms under the outgoing VC.

Ogunsola, 64, was also the former Provost. She is also an alumnus of UNILAG.
