Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), has announced a shift in date of its 2019 examinations, starting with the optional mock exam which was supposed to hold on March 23.

The shift in mock exam date is the second time following previous shift in date. But there are indications that inconsistency in date of the 2019 general elections was largely responsible for the shift.

The main Unified Tertiary Matriculation Exam (UTME) which was originally supposed to start on March 23 and last for almost one week was also affected in the shift in date. It was rescheduled to commence from Thursday, April 11.

JAMB spokesman, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, in a statement released in Abuja, explained that the change was due to certain circumstances beyond the board’s control.

He urged candidates who had indicated interest in the mock examination at the point of registration and had since printed their mock examination notification slips not to print another one because all the details on the slips remained the same except the examination date which is now April 1, 2019.

He thus advised candidates who registered for the 2019 UTME to ensure that they printed their examination notification slips before the day of the examination, stressing that excuses would not be entertained.

He said: “JAMB will not reschedule examination for any candidate who fails to abide by the rules of the exam.”

Meanwhile, the board said it observed that at the close of sale of form and close of registration portal on February 21, no fewer than 41,063 candidates created their profile, procured either UTME or DE ePINS but were unable to complete registration formalities after initiating the process.

Fabian said the board had considered the affected candidates and re-opened the registration portal effective from Wednesday March 13, for the candidates to complete their registration formalities.

He said the portal would be closed at Midnight on Friday, March15.
