The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has engaged the services and expertise of the heads of federal and state tertiary institutions to supervise the 2017 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations (UTME).
The board, like the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in 2015, believed that such class of individuals with proven integrity would never compromise the process to either favor the JAMB or any candidate.
Its Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, who addressed a gathering of the heads of institutions at a meeting in Abuja yesterday highlighted some of the roles they were expected to play for a hitch free exercise beginning tomorrow with the conduct of mock CBT exams to selected candidates.
He said: “It is said that proper planning prevents poor performance and he who fails to plan automatically plans to fail. It is to achieve the former and avoid the latter that we assembled you to brainstorm and strategise on how to make the 2017 UTME a tremendous success.”
He appealed to the academics to support the effort of JAMB to provide equal platform for all candidates to participate in the UTME, and secure admission if they passed the exams.
Oloyede maintained that the board strengthened its structures and capacity to successfully conduct the 2017 UTME, but solicited the support of the institution managers to achieving that.
