Veteran Football Foundation of Nigeria (VFF) has appointed former Edo State Governor, Chief Lucky Nosakhare Igbinedion as the National patron of the club.

In a statement released by the national secretariat and signed by the National Chairman, Mr. Godson Uti, it said the appointment became necessary following the contributions of Igbinedion to sports development in Nigeria and his role in formation of the Nigerian All Stars International Veteran Football Foundation, which has become a household name in all states of the Federation. 

“We, the National Board of Trustees of the Veterans Football Foundation (VFF), have deemed it necessary to appoint Lucky Nosakhare Igbinedion, former Governor of Edo State as patron of national Veterans Football Foundation.

“This appointment is as a result of his commitment and immense contributions to football development in Nigeria. It is important to say here that Igbinedion was the originator of Veterans Football Competition over a decade ago. Today the national All Stars football tournament has become a household name in Nigeria.”

“Moreso, Edo State being home of sports in Nigeria has been given the hosting right for the 12th edition of the 2022 National Veteran Cup competition slated for October 2022 in Benin-City.”

Meanwhile, President of Edo State All Stars, Comrade Johnbull Edosowan, has commended members of the national Board of Trustees of VFF, for appointing Chief Igbinedion as National patron.
