THE World Bank is expected to approve $75 million next week to assist internally displaced persons (IPP) caused by the Boko Haram insurgents.

Its team leader on Community and Social Development Projects (CSDP), Prof Folusho Okunmade- wa, said this yesterday in Ilorin, Kwara State, during a one day advocacy workshop organised by the Kwara State Community and Social Development Agency (KWCSDA).

He added that the bank had already released $140 million for the benefit of the 26 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) that are participating in the project.

Represented by the Social Protection Specialist of World Bank, Prof Yusuf Suleiman, Okunmadewa said: “The aim is to increase access by poor people and particularly the internally displaced and vulnerable people in the north-east to improve social and natural resource infrastructure services in a sustain- able manner throughout Nigeria.
