Imo State chairman of the Social Democratic Party(SDP), Marshal Okaforanyanwu has boasted that his party will unseat every other party in 2023 to produce the next governor of the State.
Okaforanyanwu who addressed newsmen in Owerri on Friday said SDP has adopted new approach of spreading the ideologies of the party to the grassroots which he noted is receiving tremendous acceptance from the people.
Part of the ideology he pointed is revisiting the zoning arrangements already laid down for any politician aspiring for a position in the State. He informed that already, his party is parading aspirants from State Assembly to the Senate.
He said that his party would be remembered for its transparency, fairness and equity after the 2023 election when a candidate from Owerri zone would have emerged as governor of the State.
“I want to assure you that we are repositioning the party, we have our methodology and that includes carrying the grassroots along, not minding that I’m from Orlu zone, i believe the chatter of equity should be followed, it would not be fair if Owerri zone does not produce the next governor of the State, we have no regret saying it’s the turn of Owerri zone.
” Orlu where I came from has been there for twenty years on a stretch, Okigwe has been there but Owerri had nine months with late Evan Enwerem, and seven months cut short with Emeka Ihedioha, two of them put together still will not give you two years.” Okaforanyanwu said.
Speaking on zoning at the national level, he said already that the National Leadership of the SDP under the leadership of Shehu Gabam has zoned the ticket to the south maintaining that “it will change the present political narratives that have bedeviled our Democracy” .
