From Ndubuisi Orji, Abuja
Daniel Bwala, the spokesman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has said there were more allegations of corruption under the President Muhammadu Buhari led All Progressives Congress (APC) controlled Federal Government.
Bwala, a former member of the APC who defected to the PDP recently, stated this yesterday, in an interview with a television station.
According to him the present administration spent six years investigating various officials of the past PDP administration, accused of alleged $2billion misappropriation, whereas under the APC administration, one needs to pick out only two government officials accused of misappropriating public fund of up to $2 billion.
He said: “The first term of Muhammadu Buhari and the APC, Nigerians went on referendum on the PDP. They chose a different path and they gave APC the opportunity. The first four years, you were to defend and canvass for the APC in the hope that APC would deliver on her promise. I did.
“When we got into the second term, if you have observed the character of my defence was quite objective, because I felt that the second term should be a term when you should be able to show proof of the things you said you would do, because we have had enough of: ‘we inherited this, we inherited that, that PDP is this, PDP is that.’ Eight years is enough time for any political party, in spite of what you inherited, what you were confronted with to bring out the full image of what you intended.
“Unfortunately, even though the first few years, in my view, APC did well in the area of anti -corruption and security. But now we have what we call the gift and the curse. Your strength now became your weakness, because when it comes to insecurity, I need not say anything for anyone to know that we are worse off now than we were in 2015.”
