The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant-General Tukur Buratai has, again, advised those calling for the division of the country to have a rethink, as the Nigerian army would not fold its arms and allow such to happen.

Tukur, who said but for the sacrifices of the Nigerian armed forces, the nation would have been in deep crisis, said the army would fight with the last drop of its blood to protect and defend the territorial integrity of the country.

Buratai, who spoke when he was presented with the millennium hero award in Abuja, by a coalition of civil society organisation, said “anyone planning to divide Nigerian will not succeed.”

“The Nigerian army will continue to do its best to maintain a secured atmosphere in the country. We will continue to partner civil society to see that our sovereignty is protected and maintained. No organisation outside this country can say it is more patriotic than Nigeria,” he said.

Leader of the group, said it decided to award the army chief because of his tremendous contribution to the war against the Boko Haram terrorists in the northeastern part of the country.
