Newly inaugurated President for Alaba International Market Association, electronics section, Chief Camillus Amajuoyi has pledged to work with relevant government agencies to ensure no substandard goods enters the market.
He stated this during an interaction with journalists after his swearing-in promising to tackle the challenges of flood and poor electricity supply to the market.
He said he would explore the option of having all activities in the market powered by solar energy expressing the optimism that if epileptic electricity supply is solved in the market, most of the indigenous electronics companies in Alaba would start producing in Nigeria to generate more job opportunities for the youths.
Outgoing president, Paulinus Ugochukwu appreciated members for their support in achieving some of his administration’s goals like constructed a standard health care facility in the market fully equipped with a laboratory and a stand by ambulance, building of public toilets facility, 32 units and shops, improve security, installation of solar powered security lights around the market and partnering several government agencies like SON in tackling the menace of substandard products.
He charged the incoming executive to continue to introduce programmes that would be of benefit to members and embark on more physical projects saying “there is still so much to be done.”
The event was attended by members of the market, Eze ndigbo of Ojo, Sir Ikenna Onwegbu and founding fathers of the market who also gave their blessings and piece of advice to the new executives.
