Alafaa Kariboye-Igbo, the Chief Executive Officer, Oil Money Records, has restated the record label is bent on promoting and sustaining effective music record management.

In this interview, the serial entrepreneur hinted at what fans should expect from Oil Money Records before the end of 2021, plans to sign more artistes, life as a philanthropist and lots more.

You have been designated as one of the richest men in Nigeria  by some influential publications. How do you react to this?

It’s God Doings not my power..

 

 

Among other Nigerian billionaires, you took a rather different route, selling cars and being an entertainment mogul among other business interests. What inspired you to go into the various business ventures that contribute significantly to your wealth?

One should not lay his egg on one basket

 

 

Oil Money Records is the latest venture you added to your business empire. Is there any new business you are looking at expanding into in the coming years, and why?

Time will tell but soon.

 

 

How did you come about the name Oil Money?

It’s a divine idea not man made. I believe oil don’t stop rushing and excess money don’t finish..so wit the combination of the names it simply means my money won’t finish or stop rushing. With God Grace.

 

Why did you decide to set up Oil Money Records? 

To assist the young and talented ones  in the industry.

 

So far, how many artistes are on the label?

Two for now..(Clova Fresh & Jaydboy). but as time goes more artists will be signed to the label.

 

How do you choose artistes signed by the label?

From their uniqueness and creativity.

 

 

What do you want to achieve with the record label in the next 5 or 10 years?

Making up to 5 music star in  the entertainment industry.

 

Is there a particular genre of music the label will be pushing? 

All genre are accepted. Artist uniqueness and creativity is what matters.

 

 

What should music fans expect from Oil Money Records this year?

Something crazy and mind blowing

 

 

As a philanthropist, what motivates you?

Self confidence and loyalty

 

You do a lot of giveaways on Instagram, do you also respond to people who needs your help and tried to reach you privately?

As a public figure, I receive thousands of messages daily. I reply the ones I can but soon, I’ll be unveiling a platform where the needy will be answered.

My 10th Birthday.

I would have started the label earlier…

Always focus on your goal and dreams, don’t let anyone talk down on you.

 

 

How important is family to you?

They so precious to me and I pray God Almighty grant them good life and divine health.

 

Can you tell us about your early childhood and education and family?

I was born in Buguma City  in Rivers State, into the family of Kariboye-Igbo. I graduated from London University and currently based in UK.

 

What has been your challenging moment as a showbiz impresario?

Way back it was stressful but now that I have a working team, everything is perfect.

 

How do you intend to make your record label one of the best globally?

We don’t believe in being the best but with simplicity  our aims would be achieved.

 

Living in the Abroad how do you retain and maintain your African heritage?

It is not easy but God Almighty is with me.

 

Do you aspire to become Forbes African Richest man someday? What is your game plan for this?

Sure I see myself being enlisted on Forbes African Richest soon. I am working towards that, I believe God won’t let me down.

 

 

Do you plan on venturing into Nigeria politics someday?

For Now no…

 

What if you get political appointed, would you go for it?

Sure I will accept it..and use the office to assist the people.

 

 

What’s your take on government’s ban of Twitter?

It’s not a good idea most of the online campaign is being done via twitter, and with this ban I wonder what they will gain come 2023 election. And mostly entertainment industry needs it too.
