Senator representing Imo East, Ezenwa Onyewuchi, has said his firm believe in the power of education to break the chain of poverty and change lives, is the reason he is working hard at attracting and donating educational facilities to his constituents.

The lawmaker who is also Labour Party Senatorial candidate for the 2023 elections, stated this at Naze, Owerri North Local  Government Area of the  state, while donating six classroom blocks and toilet facilities constructed at Naze Primary School which he attracted.

Onyewuchi said once a person acquires qualitative education which empowers him with relevant skills and knowledge, achieving success in any field of  endeavour was easier.

He said success in one’s chosen career usually  translates to improvement in standard of living and banishment of poverty.

He said it was because of this clear cut understanding of the crucial role education played in curtailing  poverty and hunger and attendant sufferings that propelled him to work assiduously towards enhancing its quality, through provision of conducive learning environment for students.

He said in the last three years, he has donated over 20 educational facilities across the nine local governments in Owerri Zone.

The facilities, he said, ranged from classroom blocks, Information and Communication Technology (ICT) laboratories, halls, amongst others. The lawmaker assured he would continue to attract more of such infrastructure to his constituents.

He said though negativity seemed to be currently having an upper hand in the society, the worrisome situation could be addressed if education was returned to the place of pride it used to occupy.

The lawmaker while noting that the environment remains key in the quest for quality and standard education, pointed out that without it, teaching and learning would be seriously impaired.
