Wearable technology and lifestyle products, Garmin, has partnered with MTN to introduce a range of health and fitness devices to help boost the fitness of Nigerians.
The devices include a range of smart watches that enable users to track, monitor and record daily health activities on selected devices paired with smartphones, to receive current weather conditions, weather forecasts, voice call/text message notifications, emails, among other functions.
MTN Nigeria’s general manager, brands and communications, Mr. Richard Iweanoge, explained the telco would drive the data bundle for the digital and lifestyle products.
“There will be a three-month free bundle of 300 megabytes after purchase because MTN feels people should get this as a personal trainer to guard against sudden illness and death,” he said.
While applauding MTN’s management for the partnership, he disclosed that driving the digital fitness lifestyle devices through its platform would save more lives. He noted that the company’s partnership with Garmin was in line with its vision to lead the delivery of a bold, new digital world to MTN’s customers.
“We are delighted to announce this partnership because we believe that Garmin is the right fit to drive our commitment towards deploying cutting-edge technology to enrich the lives of our subscribers. Health and fitness has become a critical issue that everyone needs to pay attention to, and MTN is excited at being at the forefront of this movement to keep Nigerians fit,” he said.
Giving details about the partnership, Iweanoge said that customers who purchase Garmin’s vívofit, vívosmart, Forerunner, f-nix Sapphire HR smart watches as well as the Garmin Index™ Smart Scale up until June 31, 2017, would get 300MB free for three months, that is, total of 900MB, valid for three months, to use the Garmin Connect App.
