From Obinna Odogwu, Abakaliki

National Chairman of the United Progressive Party (UPP), Chief Chekwas Okorie, yesterday, gave reasons why the party supported the struggle for Biafra.

He explained that the injustice meted to Igbo informed the decsion.

This was even as he advised the people of the South East geopolitical zone to embrace the party which he said has Igbo agenda.

Okorie stated this in Abakaliki during the inauguration of Ebonyi State office of the party.

He noted that the country was tired of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) because of their inability to deliver democracy dividends to the people.

Represented by Ebizie Andrew, assistant national secretary, South East zone, Okorie noted that UPP was the only party that will deliver the people from the shackles of APC and PDP.

“PDP has been in power for 16 years and they have offered the South East and the Igbo nothing and we need a change.

“That change is not APC that has worsened the people’s suffering. That change is the UPP.

“In 2019, we will deliver the real and not fake change to the people of the zone,” he said.

He boasted that the party will teach the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) a political lesson and will prove that UPP is a true Igbo party with the welfare of the people at heart.

He UPP will achieve that by  capturing Anambra in the November election.

In his remarks, the state Chairman,  Pius Inya said the party will move into the grassroots, mobilise and sensitise the people to capture the state in 2019.
