Free agent Jetro Willems is eager to make a return to Newcastle United.
The wing-back enjoyed a promising loan spell on Tyneside in the 2019/20 season, netting twice in 20 appearances and striking up an encouraging partnership with Allan Saint-Maximin.
However, Willems’ time in black-and-white was brought to an abrupt halt after he ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament against Chelsea in January 2020.
Now released from Eintracht Frankfurt, Football Insider reports the wing-back is ‘very keen’ on a return this summer.
Willems remains in regular contact with several members of Newcastle’s dressing room who are keen for Steve Bruce to re-sign Willems.
