Ondo State Government on Tuesday, in Akure, began data capturing for workers in preparation for the full take-off of the state health insurance scheme, code-named ORANGEHIS.

The State Head of Service, Mr Kayode Ogundele, said shortly after being captured that the scheme, when fully operational, would alleviate the health challenges faced by workers, which had led to incapacitation or untimely death of some

According to him, the era when workers in the state will be running around to raise funds from their meagre resources to save the lives of their sick colleagues will be gone with the take-off of ORANGEHIS.

He said that apart from subscribing to the scheme at the various hospitals of workers’ choice, the state government had concluded arrangements to build a clinic within the premises of the State Contributory Health Agency as a model for the scheme in the state.

Ogundele charged all civil servants in the state to key in and avail themselves of the opportunities ORANGEHIS would offer, while lauding the Gov. Akeredolu-led government for the initiative.

“In this programme, the health challenges that normally face the workers, the programme will take care of it fully. In fact, unlike in some places, this programme takes care of some surgical expenses.

”In addition, the governor felt if we are trying to actually ask for standard from our service providers, we should have a model that we can look up to and follow,” he said.(NAN)
