A group of Non Governmental Organisations (NGOs), under aegis of White Ribbon Alliance Nigeria (WRAN) have called on the Federal Government to deliver on its pledge to revitalise 10,000 Primary Healthcare Centres (PHCs) across the country.
The alliance, which has focus on promoting accountability for the funding of maternal, new born,  child and adolescent health in Nigeria, stressed the importance of government ensuring that the revitalisation of primary health care centres intervention launched by President Muhammadu Buhari in January is fully executed.
WRAN Chairperson, Dr Nanna Chidi-Emmanuel who spoke with newsmen in Abuja, yesterday, futher disclosed that members of the alliance paid an advocacy visit to Acting President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo over the intervention on Friday June 20, to  emphasise the importance of investing in the provision of healthcare in rural areas.
Chidi-Emmanuel noted that for Nigeria to make significant progress with regard to reducing the country’s high infant and maternal mortality rate, a bold step such as the rehabilitation of 10,000 PHCs by the Federal Ministry of Health must be done.
