DafriBank Digital notched up its achievements with the recently launched e-Top Up feature which allows the bank’s customers to buy airtime and data with their DafriBank account instantly in over 70 countries including Nigeria.
The bank’s chairman, billionaire and philanthropist Xolane Ndhlovu broke the news to his and the bank’s social media followers on Twitter and Instagram, where a post on his account, @xolanendhlovu reads: “We will be introducing e-Top Up in 50+ countries. You can buy airtime and data at your @Dafribank online banking and in Africa as well as USA, UK, Philippines, India, Brazil and Indonesia.”
This was coming weeks after the digital-only bank sold its shares digitally to continent-wide subscribers.
Even as they savoured the good news about the bank’s trailblazing feat, followers of Xolane Ndhlovu were also regaled with his donation of N3 million to Davido as a birthday gift.
The news, which created an online frenzy, was not a bolt from the blue for some of his followers.
The Nigerian Afrobeat star had generated a furore online on November 17, 2021 when he called out his rich and wealthy online friends to donate generously to his forthcoming birthday.
The call had triggered an unprecedented wave of one million donations that peaked at over N180 million under 24 hours.
It was inconceivable that Xolane Ndhlovu being one of the star’s friends will be left out of the action
In justifying his donation, Xolane Ndhlovu has explained that “I am a fan of @Davido music.”
For many who are familiar with the big-heart billionaire, his gift to Davido is one of many acts of philanthropy. Ndhlovu has gifted many Africans thousands of dollars in his weekly giveaway to customers of DafriBank who have bank accounts with the bank. He instituted the reward scheme in August and it will last till December 31, during which at least 10 winners are randomly selected every weekend with money credited into their DafriBank account.
