The Rector of Yaba College of Technology, Yaba, Lagos, Engr. Obafemi Omokungbe, including Olorogun (Barr) Benson Ndakara, the President-General of Orogun Kingdom in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State, Olorogun (Dr) Sunday Ovba, A real Estate expert/hotelier, and Engr. Enebi Shaibu Onuchayo, Deputy Director, Inspections and monitoring in the Standard Organisation of Nigeria (SON), have all being awarded a Fellow of the Institute of Strategic Procurement and Resource Management, (ISPRM) during the week.

The ceremony took place at the National Orthopeadic Hospital Guest House, Igbobi, Lagos as the President of the Institution, Mr. Casmirs Azubuike applauded the immense contributions of the awardees to procurement and resource management in their various Institutions whether public or private. Meanwhile, in a short lecture delivered by Mr. Gabriel Ogunsusi and Mr. Gabriel Fagbohun on Procurement and effective resource Management, the duo said that, one of the reasons why the country has remained in her state is the lack of proper procedure in procurement plans and resource management and the failure of Heads of Institutions or organisations to follow due process while procuring materials either for their institution or private use. “The failure in the system is largely caused by managers of resources”, Fagbohun noted.

The Speakers challenged the newly inducted fellows to represent the Institution’s interest by following all necessary procurement practices and resource management. Meanwhile, Yabatech Rector, Omokungbe while commending the Institute, stressed that, receiving the Fellowship award makes him an Ambassador and will continue to show exemplary leadership by managing resources available at his disposal. He challenged the Institute to create more awaress on procurement standard and promised to work with them to achieve better goals. On his part, Dr. Ovba lauded the Institute for recognizing him as a fellow, corroborated by Barr. Ndakara, who was represented by the Editor-in-Chief of Afrikanwatch Network, Mark C. Orgu.

In the same vein, the Registrar of the Institute, Dr. Eric Aigbe has requested from the awardees for partnership in their various Institutions and businesses, noting that, it is only on synergy of purpose that greater things can be achieved. He congratulated the awardees and officially declared them Fellows. Dr. Aigbe also stated that, the Institute looks forward for Nigerians to apply for membership and others.
