Kogi State Governor and 2023 Presidential Hopeful on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, has been named Best Governor in Peace and Security for his outstanding leadership qualities and decisive handling of the security situation in the state.

Alhaji Bello is among distinguished Nigerians to be recognised at the fifth anniversary awards of UK-based media group, the Nigerian News.

According to a statement by the company, the governor has excelled in numerous aspects since taking over the helms of affair.

It highlighted the tremendous turnaround in infrastructure, education, healthcare, agriculture and youth empowerment, all attracting widespread commendation.

However, the company added that its committee were particularly impressed with the peace, serenity and security in Kogi.

“Despite its delicate nature, as the bridge between the north and south, Kogi is seemingly unaffected by the rising spate of crimes across the country,” a statement signed by Ms Bridget Agada, the secretary of the planning committee noted.

“With the knowledge that the state is central to the nation’s peace and development, Governor Bello set up a template, involving all indigenes in the fight, keeping them busy with worthy jobs and making the task of securing the state everybody’s business. Other states are beginning to borrow this blueprint”.

The company added that Governor Bello has also helped to midwife series of interventions in de-escalating tensed security situation across the country.

The event, scheduled to hold at the NAF Conference Centre Abuja on December 16th, will be chaired by the Honourable Minister of Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Affairs, His Excellency, Senator (Dr) George Akume while His Royal Highness, the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, is the Father of the Day.

Ten other distinguished Nigerians will be recognised on that day including His Excellencies, Ambassador Tukur Buratai, Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State, Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State, former Senate President, Anyim Pius Anyim and Mr Mohammed Bello-Kobo, the acting MD, Nigerian Ports Authority.

Others are Brigadier General Shuaibu Ibrahim, the DG National Youth Service Corps; Mr Lanre Gbajabiamila, DG National Lottery Commission, Mr Yusuf Bichi, the DG Department of State Services, the Executive Secretary, Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission, Rev Yakubu Pam, Director-General of the Industrial Training Fund (ITF) among others.
