A group under the aegis of Atiku National Youth Organisation (ANYO) has called on former vice president, Alhaji Abubakar Atiku, to accept the appeal by the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to return to the party.
The group led by its National President, Hyacinth Harsila and et National Secretary, Tiku Samuel, said it has begun to strategise for Atiku Abubakar’s presidential ambition ahead of the 2019 general elections. It said the call on the former vice president to return to PDP by the party’s leadership was a manifestation of his acceptability and his contributions towards building the party to become the largest in Africa.
The group, in a statement, said Atiku has much to offer in the administration of the country.
The statement noted that the youth nationwide which accounts for 65 percent of the country’s population and voting strength would provide the framework for positive governance in Nigeria, adding that Atiku knows the importance of the youth and will, therefore, carry them along in his administration.
The organisation which emphasised that Atiku, as a founding member of the PDP is being called to return because he knows and can solve Nigeria’s problems.
“Atiku in his wisdom has, over the years, engaged the youths and discovered that there was a need to work in synergy with them. All Nigerians of good conscience must support Atiku to rein in the evil facing this nation. The Arewa youths, the Biafra agitators as well as the Niger-Delta militants must embrace peace and work together for the interest of one Nigeria,” ANYO said.
The youth organisation, which lamented that the country would have been better than it is currently if Atiku had been given the opportunity to rule commended the former vice president for being a bridge builder between the North and the South even outside government. It, therefore, urged other leaders across the country to emulate his leadership qualities.
The group further noted that agitations and calls for restructuring of the country can only be actualised through amendment of the Constitution.
