The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has urged all telecommunications operators(telcos) to improve on their Quality of Service (QoS)  across the country.

During this period, the commission said migration of traffic from major cities to the hinterlands could lead to the emergence of the need to adjust service distribution.

NCC’s  Executive Vice Chairman, Prof. Umar Danbatta, who was represented by a Deputy Director in the commission, Mr. Jerry Ugwu, at the grand finale of the NCC-sponsored Telecoms Cup Tennis Tournament in Lagos recently, exhorted operators to be fully prepared to cater for subscribers’ reliance on voice, data and Short Messaging Service (SMS) during the festive period.

According to him, there is always increased traffic on telecommunications networks during the Yuletide period. He added:  “NCC’s message on better QoS is always consistent to serve the interest of all operators, subscribers and stakeholders. Although operators  know the dynamics of the market and understand the demand flow as well, but NCC will still not relent on its oars.

“This is a period that traffic is higher and so, operators must be prepared to meet the demands because it brings business to them. They too will not be happy if bad QoS should lead subscribers to desert their networks.”

NCC’s determination to trigger a Renaissance in tennis in Nigeria is gradually yielding fruits giving the level of enthusiasm shown by Nigerians, young and old, in the tennis matches.

However, the Vice Chairman, Tennis Section of Ikoyi Club, Mr Collins Onuegbu, commended the NCC for putting efforts into sustaining the sponsorship of tennis competitions. Adding that the sponsorship would rejuvenate the game in Nigeria, as the sport was almost dying because of lack of sponsorship.
