Two policemen and seven others were killed in a fresh attack in Zamafara State, at the weekend,  spokesman of the Nigeria Police Force, Don Awunah said.
according to Awunah, “seven of the victims were members of the communities where the hoodlums attacked.”
The police spokesman told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), yesterday, that the Police Mobile Force and the Counter-terrorism Unit have been deployed to the area to restore law and order.
Yusuf Moriki, member representing Zurmi West in the House of Assembly, confirmed the incident.
“It occurred at Dole, Tudun Bugaje and Kwangwami communities, in Zurmi local government area,” he said.
“So far, we have record of 25 people who were killed during the attack, while many others, who were injured, have been taken to hospital,” said Moriki.
Moriki commended security agencies over measures taken to restore peace and stability, but urged them to do more.
The bandits allegedly attacked the villages on Saturday night after carrying out similar attacks in some communities in neighbouring Shinkafi Local Government Area, the previous day.
He appealed to the people to remain calm, saying the state government in collaboration with security agencies, was making efforts to restore peace and stability.
On Thursday, the assailants reportedly killed 35 people, and abducted 40 in Maru Local Government Area of the state.
