The Zamfara State Government has constructed 84 units of solar powered motorised boreholes across the state.

Governor Abdulaziz Yari disclosed this  at the inauguration of the one sunk at Furfuri village in Bungudu Local Government Area.

It was part of the activities to mark the sixth year anniversary of assumption of office by the governor.

Yari said the project was part of his administration’s measures toward providing portable drinking water in the state.

The governor said that the recent outbreak of meningitis in the state which claimed several lives had made it imperative for the government to invest more in the provision of potable water.

He said the borehole projects went up to N314 million from the initial N240 million due to the economic recession in the nation.

Yari charged the benefiting communities to make good use of the facilities provided for them by the state government to justify the huge amount of resources invested in them.

The Minister of Defence, retired General Mansur Dan Ali, commended the effort of the state government for ensuring the successful completion of the project.

He called on the beneficiaries to ensure that they protected the facilities for them to enjoy it. (NAN)
