Zamfara State governor, Abdul’Aziz Abubakar has described late Alhaji Yusuf Maitama Sule (Dan Masanin Kano) as a great patriot who believed in the unity of the country.

Yari in a statement by his Special Adviser, Media and Publicity, Ibrahim Dosara said the late Dan Masanin was a genius whose valuable contribution as a public figure helped in fostering peace, progress and unity in the country.

“Dan Masanin Kano was father that always wanted the best for the country. He was a great champion who fought oppression and dictatorship even in his old age,” the statement reads.

Governor Yari described Dan Masanin’s death as a big loss to the country and prayed to Allah to grant him eternal rest.

The 88-year-old Sule died on Monday in a Hospital in Cairo.

Similarly, Second Republic politician, Alhaji Tanko Yakasai has paid glowing tribute to the elder statesman , the late Sule.

In a statement in Kano, Alhaji Tanko Yakasai lamented that, “The death of Alhaji Sule, the national loss just as it is to his family, his friends and political associates.

“A highly remarkable character, Danmassanin was a friend to all and enemy to none. We have been together since our younger age and our friendship has transcended to our children” he stated.

“Even though we parted ways politically at a certain stage in our life, fate brought us together when Kano State was created and we both served as pioneer members of the state executive council to the end of the lifetime of our administration,” he recalled.

“During the Second Republic, we were brought together by the Almighty God under the banner of the defunct National Party of Nigeria (NPN) under whose government we both served; he as Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations and I as the Presidential Liaison Officer in the National Assembly. We remained best of friends right from our childhood; never had we had any personal quarrel,” he recalled.
